Implicate Me is a beautiful performance. Each vignette is a small gem, a small world - the way of a good short story. As I read each piece, I felt I was being led/let into a privileged place and a new country was being opened before me.
Rosemary Blake
Implicate Me is the best book of poetry appreciation I've read in a long, long time"succinct, yet packed with insight, understanding, and generous empathy. I'm amazed at the depth, thoroughness and accuracy of the "takes"on the way each poem yields its full significance. Reading this collection has given me new insight and inspiration. I won't single out any particular essay because they're all so different and good. Suffice to say, when Elana Wolff applies the clear magnifying glass of her art of parsing, poems come to life and sing.
James Clarke
A writer of poetry herself, Elana Wolff mediates between writer and reader through the medium of the poem, and shows how, by the act of reading a poem, we become implicated in the poetic process. In these essays, she offers the benefit of her experience, her keen ear and eye, heart and mind; she helps her readers travel through the labyrinth of the poem, following threads of language, imagery, and meaning, and leads us out to the other side, ready to read the piece again and yet again.
