This is an autobiographical novel told in crisp, direct language about growing up and the politics of a creative Acadian community.
It is the story of a young man named Alain Gautreau who leaves his hometown of Bouctouche to enrol as a young man at a young campus. Along the way he brushes up against the political movements shaping the Acadian community. Implicit in Moncton Mantra is an argument that this modest New Brunswick city has become a gathering point where the young talents of Acadie can meet and feed off each other as they carve out their creative niche.
