In Montreal, at the beginning of the century, an Italian accidentally shot and killed a French Canadian. For this he was sentenced to death. The judge had intended to set an example: he wished to discipline those foreigners who had the regrettable habit of carrying weapons and taking justice into their own hands. By exploring this simple news item, we wanted to do more than simply tell a tale of injustice against the backdrop of the absurd logic of everyday racism and violence.
