Dog and Crow describes the meeting between art and politics, revolving around the liaison between Benito Mussolini and Ezra Pound. Based on Pound's sojourn in Fascist Italy, the play spans the years 1928 to 1946 and moves from Italy to America. It is a powerful psychological exploration of one of the greatest American poets and his alliance with the Fascism of Mussolini, which eventually led him to be charged with treason by the American government and imprisoned. It was first produced in Toronto by the Necessary Angel Theatre Company in 1988, and a French version was also presented in Montreal in 1990.
