Eduardo De Filippo
Eduardo De Filippo (1900-1984) is generally regarded as the most representative figure of Southern Italian culture. Playwright, poet, actor, director, and producer of both film and theatre, he was the author of sixty-three plays and, together with Pirandello, helped define the stature and range of twentieth-century Italian drama. His signature piece, The Nativity Scene (Natale in Casa Cupiello, 1931), originally written in Neapolitan, is here presented for the first time in English translation.
