Jean Antonin Billard
Born in 1930 in Tours, France, Jean Antonin Billard came to Quebec in 1953. Aside from winning the Governor General's Award for his translation of Dorothy Livesay's The Phases of Love (Les Âges de l'amour), Billard has also translated A.M. Klein, Malcolm Lowry, Clark Blaise, D.G. Jones, H.G. Weinberg, Ludwig Zeller, Irving Layton, Alberto Kurapel, Ray Ellenwood, Dan Yashinsky, Charles Taylor and Mao Tse Toung.
