Jo-Anne Elder has translated more than 20 works of poetry, theatre, film, fiction, and non-fiction from French to English, most recently Beatitudes, (Herménégilde Chiasson's Béatitudes, 2007), her second title shortlisted for a Governor General's award, and One (Serge Patrice Thibodeau's Seul on est, 2009). She is also a writer, and her collection of flash fiction, Postcards from Ex-Lovers (Broken Jaw Press, 2005), won the WFNB's David Adams Richards Prize. She organizes a festival of literary translation, and has given numerous workshops and readings. She and her husband, Aboriginal artist Carlos Gomes, live with their large family in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
