Larry Etkin
Larry Etkin is a veteran communications professional who has worked more than four decades as a writer, editor, publication designer, and public relations consultant and media planner. He has also served stints in the past as a radio and print journalist, and as the director of communications at two Minnesota state agencies, for a multistate rural environmental nonprofit, and for programs of the Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station at the University of Minnesota. One of the agencies for which he headed up its office of public information was the Minnesota Department of Human Services. DHS is the agency responsible for state operated forensic services at the Minnesota State Security Hospital in Saint Peter. Etkin has a master’s degree from the University of Minnesota’s Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication, and a bachelor’s degree awarded by the State University of New York-Fredonia. He currently works as an independent writer, editor, and communications consultant and practitioner in Minneapolis, Minnesota, doing business as “Etkin & Associates.” He has designed and edited more than 100 books and scientific research monographs, including the cover graphic for this volume. He has received numerous industry and peer awards for his work and is also a published futurist.
