you sat down to write. It was summer . . . life in full swing, love was
in the air. . . Later, in the afternoon, you heard the one you love pronounce
the word illness, and right then fiction faded and was replaced by reality.
You wept Louise Dupré is one of the most distinguished women of letters in Quebec today. Her most recent poetry collection is Une écharde sous ton ongle (Editions Noroit, 2004). She has also published art books, essays and two novels. She has received many prizes and awards and is a member of lAcadémie des lettres du Québec et de la Société Royale du Canada.
